Jake Johnson admits that filming New Girl feels like a long time ago, but he remains grateful for the show's fan base

Johnson and the cast, including Zooey Deschanel and Max Greenfield, have stayed close since the series ended

The show ran for seven seasons from 2011 to 2018

While New Girl first hit the small screen 15 years ago, devoted fanshave kept the show alive — but Jake Johnson admits life has changed a lot since they were filming in the fictional Los Angeles apartment.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse actor, 47, was asked if it "feels like yesterday" or "a lifetime ago" that the beloved show was on the air.

“It definitely doesn't feel like yesterday,” Johnson admitted. "It feels like a long time ago, but I'm still so close to the whole cast.”

New Girl ran for seven seasons, from September 2011 to May 2018. In addition to Johnson, who played the sarcastic yet lovable bartender Nick Miller, the cast included Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris, Damon Wayans Jr. and Hannah Simone.

“It's crazy that we've now known each other for 15 years, but what a dream that show was, and the fan base of that show was so fun, and so honestly, being able to do a show like this show is because of that. So it's really a blessing," he said while promoting his new Apple TV series, Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed.

When talking to PEOPLE in February 2026, Greenfield, 46, echoed Johnson's comments, discussing how special it is when they all get together.

“If you put us together in any circumstance, we go right back,” Greenfield said. “It's really scary. We all keep in touch in a really beautiful way. I was texting with Jake this morning.”

In fact, the men all got together in November 2024 for PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive issue — their first time reunited on camera since the finale.

When asked about a potential New Girl reunion, they all agreed that time will tell — but they're all interested if everything aligns.

"None of us have any power about a reunion. But I think we all would if the right thing came, it's really fun to be together," Johnson said.

New Girl is streaming on Hulu.
