Jason Momoa is having the time of his life as Lobo.

The actor, who formerly played Aquaman on the big screen, re-enters the DC fray as the heavy-metal, motorcycle-riding, cigar-smoking intergalactic bounty hunter in *Supergirl*. Tuesday's new trailer shows the character in all his rip-roaring glory.

"Aren't you that ditz from that dive bar," he asks of Milly Alcock's Kara Zor-El in the footage.

"Funny," she responds, "that's what I've been calling you."

The main story of *Supergirl*, directed by Craig Gillespie, follows the titular strongwoman going on a bender in celebration of her 23rd birthday. However, a young alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley), tracks down Superman's tormented party-girl cousin with a desperate plea: bring the brute that killed her family, Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts), to justice.

Kara has a personal motivation to complete the task. During an early encounter with Krem, the adversary poisons her beloved super-dog, Krypto, who will die in three days' time without the antidote he keeps among his personal effects.

'Supergirl' trailer reveals Jason Momoa's Lobo, Milly Alcock taking flight

It's amid this cosmic vengeance quest where Lobo takes his first bow. The *Supergirl* trailer shows him hootin' and hollerin' while doing donuts on his cycle and whipping his chain weapon around a horde of assailants.

"He's been talking about it forever," Peter Safran, co-head of DC Studios with James Gunn, previously told ** of Momoa's Lobo interest. "He was talking about it when he was doing *Aquaman* with me. He was talking about, 'I'd rather be doing Lobo.' But when the day was announced that we got this job [leading DC], he texted both of us, all caps, 'LOBO,' 10 exclamation marks. That was it...And a few Xs."

Once Gunn and Safran took the reins of DC Studios, they embarked on a new course that would start fresh and building a new interconnected superhero universe across television and film. It allowed for Momoa to shed his Aquaman image and embrace a dream role.

"It's so great to have an actor who is such a volunteer and not a recruit," Safran continued. "He just wanted to do it. So when we had the script, and we were ready to go, it wasn't even a question. It was like, 'Here you go.' He's like, 'I'm in, let's go.' It was easy."

As previously revealed by EW, the film will also feature David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's parents, Zor-El and Alura, as well as David Corenswet reprising his Superman role.

*Supergirl* arrives in theaters this June 26. Watch the trailer above.
