Kate Middleton reportedly landed in second place after losing her number one spot to her husband, Prince William. The Prince of Wales beat her to the number one spot in the recent favorability polls. Interestingly, the Prince and Princess of Wales have always been fan favorites and have revealed on several occasions that they are very competitive as well. Other members of the royal family also ranked on the list.
Prince William narrowly overtook his wife in Britain’s latest royal popularity poll
Prince William reportedly surpassed his wife, Kate Middleton, in Britain’s latest popularity poll. In the July 2026 YouGov polls, the Prince and Princess of Wales emerged as the most popular royals, with 76-74% of citizens having a positive opinion of them.
William garnered a staggering 76%, while his wife trailed behind with a close 74% favorable rating. Princess Anne secured the third spot behind the Waleses with a whopping 70% rating. William’s father, King Charles, who took over royal duties after Queen Elizabeth’s death in 2022, ranked fourth on the list with a 62% rating. The favorable ratings were almost double the 31% negative ratings directed at Charles.

As per YouGov polls, around 59-63% of British citizens have held a positive and favorable view of the king, especially over the past two years. Prince Edward ranked fifth with a 53% rating, and Duchess Sophie secured the sixth spot with 51% of the votes in her favor. Queen Camilla was one of the most contentious royal figures on the list, with 43% of the votes in her favor and 44% ratings against her.
Camilla was followed by Prince Harry. The Duke of Sussex currently stands at a decent 33% favorable rating. Harry’s popularity has increased by six points since May 2025. Ex-Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, were also part of the list, with 30% and 29% votes, respectively. Meghan Markle ranked second last with 22% of the votes. Meanwhile, the disgraced royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor secured the last spot with the lowest number of votes at 6%.
