Most people go to England for the culture, the food, or the landmarks. Ken Jennings seems to be spending his time seeking out funny signs, including one that had a “naked” warning.
While on a filming hiatus from Jeopardy!, the host seems to be enjoying his time across the pond. Fans are enjoying it too as he shared the signs on his Instagram.
On July 25, Jennings shared a post that connected him to his home. “Really surprised by the love for Seattle sports on display here in coastal Cornwall,” he captioned the post. Cornwall is a county in southwestern England.
It featured him in a denim button-down shirt, khakis, and a Seattle Mariners hat on his head, sitting on a stone outside a building. Jennings pointed to his hat with a smile as a sign that read, “Mariners,” hung on the wall.
Although the Seattle Mariners are a baseball team, the real definition of a mariner is “a person who navigates or assists in navigating a ship,” according to Merriam-Webster Dictionary. The first post wasn’t as funny as the others, but it’s necessary to complete the sign trip he went on.
“You’re telling me corn built that wall?” one fan joked. Others said “Go Mariners!” in the comments.
His next post had him and his followers scratching their heads a bit. In this photo, Jennings pouted next to a sign. The sign had a picture of a house with waves under it. It said “THE” and then had an arrow pointing to the left.
“Define articles to the left,” he said. In grammar, “the” is considered an article. Fans left laughing emojis in the comments.
“Whose Left? Who is left? What The?” another commented.
“Ok, and what about a,” a third added.
There was another post from the host while standing on a mountain with an ocean. “In Cornwall, it’s important to stay on the path,” he captioned the post.

On the second slide, there was a sign that said “Danger Mineshafts. Keep to footpaths.” Many fans warned Jennings to “stay clear of the moors.”
The third post featured a brown wooden door. “I guess this church is looking to avoid a whole John Woo situation,” Jennings captioned the post.
The sign on the door said, “Please close the door to prevent birds flying in. Thank you.” The bottom had pictures of birds on the bottom of it.
The final post was the one that was the most shocking and hilarious. “Cornwall, you had my curiosity but now you have my attention,” he captioned the post.

The photo was of a sign that said, “Naked Miners Only Beyond This Point.” It’s not clear what this was in reference to, but it hung on a wooden half wall in a building that perhaps led to a shower area for tin miners.
“Putting the ‘flash’ into ‘flashlight,'” one fan said.
“Why did I think this was just another gem on the Columbia lot,” another asked with a laughing emoji.
“Talk about strip mining,” a fan said.
