Nicole Scherzinger shares what her holiday will look like this year
She tells PEOPLE that she plans to "turn into a potato" and relax with family
Scherzinger also dishes on her partnership with Knix, including what she's going to wear while relaxing
This holiday season Nicole Scherzinger is taking a well-earned break.
The Tony winner, 47, is capping off her whirlwind year with downtime — which she doesn't get very much of. And she's going to be comfortable while she's relaxing.
"I'm going to turn into a potato in my Quintessential Sleep Set," Scherzinger tells PEOPLE of her go-to pick from Knix, a brand she partnered with earlier this year. "That's my plan. It's been a pretty crazy year. It's been the greatest year of my life."

This year, Scherzinger wrapped up her run in Sunset Blvd., in which she made her Broadway debut. For her role as Norma Desmond, she also won a Tony Award for Lead Actress — Musical. After the show closed in July, Scherzinger treated herself to a "lovely" vacation before diving into her next project, an indie film that she calls "one of the hardest things" she's ever done.
This year, Scherzinger also launched her partnership with Knix, a brand she feels just makes sense for her lifestyle.
"I felt we were just super aligned when they asked me to be a part of their Better Than Ever campaign and their collection, because it's just talking about wherever you are, whoever you are, no matter what age you are, where you want to see your life at, just owning, embracing where you are now and your own personal growth," Scherzinger says of why she was all in when asked to work with the brand. "It just aligned with everything that I stand for as a human being and as a woman, especially now having this wonderful reignition in my life and my career."

In Scherzinger's earlier campaign, she models a number of the brand's activewear pieces, including the Studio Cutout Bra Top, HiTouch High Rise Legging and CloudCut Bomber."I wear a lot of workout clothes, and I don't know any clothes that hold you in this way, that support you in this way," she gushes. "Then not only does it feel comfortable and it really supports you, but it's just stylistically really cool and chic. I'm a massive fan of their pieces."
Scherzinger recommends any of these pieces for fans' holiday gifting lists — especially the pajama set that she's going to wear for her own holiday time (which she's looking forward to).
"I'm very excited to just go home [to Hawaii] and to be with my family," she says of her holiday plans. "For me, the holidays are all about families. It's all about cooking. I just want to cook. I just want the kitchen to smell like food all the time. I don't really watch TV, but I want to watch a lot of TV. I want to watch a lot of films. I want to wear my Quintessential Sleep Set. I want to watch documentary after documentary and just cook and eat. That's what I want to do."

She and her family are also big into board games, she says, and it gets very, very competitive around the house.
"I think it's wonderful because it gets you off your phones and gets you interacting with the family and things happen when you play games with the family — you get some belly laughs that you haven't gotten in a long time, and it's funny to see your family doing charades or something like that," she says of what the holiday looks like at home.
No matter where Scherzinger is in the world, she says she tries to keep her family's holiday traditions going, even if she's not with them. That includes listening to Christmas music (which she jokes she'd listen to all year long if she could get away with it) and cooking her family's recipes. She admits, though, that cooking a turkey in London can prove difficult, because it's not a popular bird there.
"It's mainly chickens!" she says with a laugh.

As her incredible year comes to a close, Scherzinger is feeling nothing but gratitude for the support she's received for her accomplishments and excitement for everything to come. Though she remains extremely busy with all her projects, she says she "loves" working.
"I love telling truthful, honest stories, that's why I'm very excited about this film that I'm doing. It's just really honest. I don't know if it'll ever see the light of day, but I believe in what we're doing, and I just want to continue to push myself to evolve and build," she says. "I feel like after getting Sunset and seeing the impact it made on other people's lives, I feel like now, more than ever, that art just really matters. We need that connection to bring us together, and what better way than through art, through telling stories, through music, through song or acting? And I get to do that as a job."
