Olivia Wilde is inviting audiences to her new movie as a director.
Wilde, 42, costars with Penélope Cruz, Seth Rogen and Edward Norton in her new movie The Invite, which A24 released a new trailer for on Tuesday, April 7. The movie stars Wilde and Rogen, 43, as a married couple named Angela and Joe who host a dinner party with their upstairs neighbors (Cruz, 51, and Norton, 56).
"Joe and Angela’s marriage is on thin ice. When they invite their enigmatic upstairs neighbors for a dinner party, the night spirals into unexpected places," reads an official synopsis for the film. "Have they reignited the spark or lit the match that burns it all down?"

The Invite was co-written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack: it serves as Wilde's third movie as a director and first since her 2022 psychological thriller Don't Worry Darling. Wilde first shared on social media that she had finished filming The Invite "with some of the greatest humans ever made" after a 23-day shoot on the project in May 2025.

Wilde, Rogen and Norton attended the movie's world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival in January, where The Invite received rave reviews and received a standing ovation from its premiere audience, leaving Wilde wiping away tears onstage during a post-screening Q&A. “This was the dream, to premiere right here for you guys,” she said, as the festival's director Kim Yutani said the "standing ovation was very well deserved."

"When I first signed on the movie, [Wilde] was not going to act in it," Rogen shared during that Q&A. "Me and Edward and I were texting each other like, 'How the f--- do we talk her into being in the movie?' She kept sending us names of other people. I was like, 'Why are you doing this? What exercise are we doing here? There's an obvious person who should do this. And then once she decided to cast herself in this film, which she didn't seem to want to do, it really took off."
The Invite is in theaters June 26.
