Prince William had a strong reaction to England‘s World Cup loss to Argentina. Although the Prince of Wales was disappointed with the result, he revealed that he was proud of the team. This loss also means that William will not travel to the U.S. for the World Cup final after previously saying he would only attend if England advanced.

Prince William reacts as England loses to Argentina

Prince William revealed he was “gutted” after England lost to Argentina in a crucial World Cup match. Shortly after England’s 2-1 loss to Argentina in the World Cup semifinal, William wrote on X: “Gutted. England, you gave it everything and we are all so proud of you.”

Continuing further, he stated, “Thank you to everyone on and off the pitch, for an incredible tournament. The fight and belief you have shown has inspired us all. The most complete England team in a tournament. Hold your heads high.”

The Prince of Wales had previously shared his hopes for England’s World Cup win during his recent appearance on the Kelce brothers’ “New Heights” podcast. When asked what would make the tournament a success for England, William replied simply, “I think winning it.” Furthermore, Jason asked the Prince of Wales whether he would be willing to travel to the U.S. if England reached the World Cup final. To which William responded, “Definitely, if we’re in the finals.”

Moreover, he also lavished praise on the U.S. for hosting the tournament with Mexico and Canada as co-hosts. The royal declared it to be “a brilliant World Cup” and revealed that America had been “fantastic” as a host. The Prince of Wales also confessed that he had been looking forward to the tournament “for ages,” adding that he was “so pleased” the World Cup had returned.

Users showed support for William after England’s disappointing exit from the tournament. One user commented, “Hey, and they’ve won the hearts of all the USA.
