Rosamund Pike is reminding audience members to practice theater etiquette.
Following a show-stopping performance of Inter Alia on London's West End on Saturday, May 30, the Golden Globe- and Emmy-winning actress, 47, gave an impromptu speech after taking her final bows alongside the rest of the cast.
“I just wanted to say for anyone going to the theater, it's a huge thing that we're trying to give you,” Pike began onstage, per The Hollywood Reporter and the BBC. “I am trying to tell you a story, and I'm feeling you, and I hope you're feeling me too.”
“Somebody was texting in this part,” she continued before gesturing toward a particular section in the audience. “Maybe it was very important, and maybe you're a doctor, and you're saving someone's life, and I hope you are. But we do see these, we do feel them.”

Noting that she feels like she has to “hold” all of the audience members during her performance, Pike admitted that seeing people distracted by their phones is always “hard.”
In Suzie Miller's new play, Pike stars as Jessica Parks, a London Crown Court judge determined to reform a legal system she believes is flawed. The play explores themes of motherhood, modern masculinity, and the tension between career and family life.

Following its run at London's National Theatre, which has already won Pike an Olivier Award, the Saltburn star will go on to make her Broadway debut at the Music Box Theatre in New York City for a strictly limited engagement.
In addition to Pike's Best Actress win, Inter Alia was nominated for Best New Play at the 2026 Olivier Awards. Pike has also won the Critics' Circle Theatre Award for her performance.

“What surprises me night after night performing this play is how audience members tell me they recognize themselves on stage,” Pike said in a statement shared with PEOPLE in April. “Men find themselves moved and confronted, women declare themselves seen, and parents and children tell me the story has led them to vital conversations.”
"People recount how they laugh and cry with us, and that's all I can hope for," she continued. "Suzie Miller has an indelible way of putting women's experiences on stage in a way that touches, excites, moves, and blindsides. Justin Martin's direction fuels my imagination constantly."
