Sia has spoken out about her recent child support settlement, in which she agreed to pay her estranged husband Daniel Bernad over $40,000 in monthly child support payments.
"I’m a sober working mom trying to buy peace," the "Chandelier" singer, 50, began her statement on X. "I have primary custody of our son and since i am the only parent earning income i still have to pay California’s incredibly high child support."
"This has been a horrific year but it taught me how to navigate incredibly difficult situations, prioritize my family and not absorb other people’s negativity," she continued in the statement, shared on Tuesday, April 7.
She concluded the post with a quote from Alexander Pope's 1771 poem An Essay on Criticism: “To err is human, to forgive is divine.”
Sia will pay Bernad $42,500 per month in child support for their son, Somersault Wonder Bernad, PEOPLE previously reported on Monday, April 6, according to court documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The documents do not appear to mention who has primary custody of their son.

The musician welcomed her third child — and her first with Bernad — on March 27, 2024, according to divorce documents previously obtained by PEOPLE. Sia filed for divorce from Bernad in March 2025 after the couple, a year after they welcomed their son together. The former couple married in 2022.

The payments began on April 1 and will continue until their child turns 18, or, if he is still attending high school full time, until he graduates or turns 19. The support may also end earlier under certain conditions, including death, marriage, emancipation or further court order.

In addition to the monthly payments, Sia is responsible for covering private school tuition, agreed-upon extracurricular activities and uninsured healthcare costs. She will also maintain health insurance for her son, according to the filing.
Aside from the child support settlement, Sia and Bernad will share legal custody of their son, with a schedule they agreed upon that went into affect on April 1. According to the April 6 filing obtained by PEOPLE, the issue of spousal support was resolved separately in December 2025.
