Seven years and three seasons later, Euphoria has officially come to an end.

When the HBO show premiered in 2019, it became an instant hit as fans followed the East Highland High School crew and their complex lives. In April 2026, season 3 premiered and saw the characters — including Rue (Zendaya), Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), Nate (Jacob Elordi) and Maddy (Alexa Demie) — after a five-year time jump.

It wasn't until after the finale aired on May 31 that creator Sam Levinson confirmed season 3 was also the series' end in an interview on The New York Times Popcast.

"In terms of the story that we set out to tell, which is a story about addiction and its consequences, this feels like the end to me," he told the outlet, adding that the story is a "tragic one in the end — but it's also the truth."

So, how did Euphoria end? Here's everything to know about how every major character's story line wrapped.

Warning: Euphoria spoilers ahead.

Rue

Rue, who has struggled with drug addiction since season 1, has a tragic fate in the series finale.

She takes laced pills given to her by strip club mogul Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), who has recently learned Rue is secretly working with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

While overdosing, Rue dreams that Fezco (Angus Cloud) has escaped from prison and that her mom (Nika King) is embracing her. Ultimately, Ali (Colman Domingo) finds Rue's dead body on his couch.

Nate

Throughout the season, Nate struggled to repay a debt he owed to Naz (Jack Topalian), and eventually his luck ran out. In the penultimate episode, Naz captured Nate and sealed him inside a coffin buried underground, leaving only a small air hole for ventilation.

Later, a rattlesnake slithered through the opening and killed Nate.

Cassie

By the finale, Cassie has turned her home into a content-creation hub for OnlyFans models, working alongside Maddy after the two repaired their once-strained friendship. But despite her newfound wealth and freedom, Cassie's final moments reveal a more vulnerable side than viewers have seen all season.

After Maddy has left to take care of some business, Cassie is last seen sitting alone in the mansion, looking at a portrait of herself and Nate and mourning her late husband.

Maddy leaves her and Cassie's home to meet with Alamo at the Silver Slipper. (She has become entangled with Alamo after asking for his help in settling Nate and Cassie's debt with Naz, whom Alamo then killed as a "favor" to them.)

Sitting in a private room, Alamo expresses to Maddy that he wants the "American dream" with her, including marriage and kids. But their time is interrupted when Ali enters the club and faces off with Alamo, whom he ultimately kills.

In the aftermath, Maddy quietly smiles as a sign of her relief and freedom, and then gets a ride home from Alamo's employee Bishop (Darrell Britt-Gibson).

Jules

In Jules' (Hunter Schafer) final moments, she is still living with her sugar daddy, silently painting a portrait of Rue — her high school love — following her death.

Lexi (Maude Apatow) chooses her own path in the finale when she declines Cassie and Maddy's offer to work with them.

Not only is she left grappling with Rue's death, but Lexi is also left in the dark about what happened to Nate, as her sister allows her to believe he just mysteriously disappeared.

Fezco

Fezco is still in prison, but appears in the finale in Rue's dream sequence in the moments before her death.

While on Ali's couch, she sees on the news that Fezco has escaped prison and goes to find him. However, none of it actually happened — as far as viewers know, Fezco is still serving his prison sentence.

There is also a touching tribute to the late actor, who died of an accidental overdose in 2023. In Rue's dreamlike sequence, she was reunited with Fez in never-before-seen footage that was taken during season 1 production, Levinson told Esquire.

Alamo

Alamo is killed in the shootout between him and Ali, who has set out to avenge Rue's death. Ali, Rue's former sponsor and mentor, appeared at the strip club wearing his old military uniform and carrying a shotgun, ultimately telling Alamo he is there to settle the score.

G, Bishop and Kidd

When Ali arrives at the Silver Slipper, he questions G (Marshawn Lynch) on what happened to Rue and who gave her the pills. As G tries to avoid his questioning, Ali then fatally shoots G as a warning to the rest of the patrons and employees in the club.

Bishop aided in Alamo's death by messing with the bullets, giving his boss an unloaded gun. After Alamo is shot dead, he offers to give Maddy a ride home.

As for Kidd (Asante Blackk), he has the chance to shoot Ali from the side of the room, but ultimately chooses to not get involved in the shootout.

Silver Slipper dancer Kitty (Anna Van Patten) joins Bishop and Maddy as they leave the club following the shootout, while her colleague Magick's (Rosalía) fate is not revealed.

Laurie

In the middle of a raid on Laurie's (Martha Kelly) home, the drug mule dies by suicide after declaring that she can't go to prison and hanging herself from the roof.

Faye (Chloe Cherry) and Wayne (Toby Wallace) flee Laurie's home together just before the DEA arrive for their raid of her home. The pair then hitch a ride on the highway together.

Ali

After killing Alamo, Ali drives to the home in El Paso, Texas, where Rue previously found peace (and religion) with the Miller family, whom she stumbled upon while running drugs near the border in the season premiere.

Ali introduces himself as Martin McQueen and tells the family that his daughter stayed there a while back and said it was "the most peaceful place she'd ever been." He informs them of her death and says she is now in a "better place."

Ali joins them for a meal, leading them in prayer and looking on at the empty chair left at the table. He envisions Rue smiling at him, thanking Rue and asking for her memory to be a blessing.

The series ends with the camera panning out to the peaceful Texas home and one last narration from Rue: "May God bless us all," she says.
