Netflix's new horror series Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen follows Rachel (Camila Morrone) and Nicky (Adam DiMarco) as they prepare for their wedding at Nicky's family cabin. But what should be a joyful celebration becomes deadly, as Rachel's generations-old curse turns their special day into a horrific blood bath.
Although the finale featured a tight ending, fans are still wondering if the terror could continue. Here's everything we know about a potential second season of Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen.

Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen was always pitched as a miniseries, so it likely won't return for a second season. "It was conceived of as a limited series, so it is kind of a full story," showrunner Haley Z. Boston told ScreenRant.
That said, Netflix has a history of renewing several of its limited series — like Beef, The Four Seasons, and Untamed — so it wouldn't be surprising if the streamer decided to keep this story going.
In a chat with Variety, Boston said a second season "would be a great opportunity," explaining, "This story is very personal to me. It came from a real fear of mine, something I was using to explore my own fears."
"I've thought about the show as a potential anthology, and whatever that next existential fear is, I'd need to figure out what to explore there," she added. "Horror, to me, runs deep. It allows you to explore taboo subjects and externalize internal fears. I have a lot of fears, so I'm sure there's more to mine."

Rachel and Nicky get married in the finale, but it's anything but a happy ending.
Nicky initially hesitates at the altar, and Rachel's family curse kicks in, causing anyone who doubts their spouse is truly their soulmate to bleed to death. Among the victims are Nicky's mother, Victoria (Jennifer Jason Leigh), and his sister Portia (Gus Birney).
Eventually, Nicky goes through with the ceremony to try to save the rest of his family. He walks away unharmed because he believes Rachel is his soulmate, but Rachel isn't so lucky.
Because she no longer believes in him after he brushed off her fears, she succumbs to the curse. In a twist, though, Rachel is resurrected as the new Witness, fated to attend every wedding in Nicky's family forever.

After coming back to life, Rachel finds a visibly shaken Nicky on their bed clutching a teddy bear. He later warns his nephew, Jude (Sawyer Fraser), to be "really, really, really, really careful who you choose to marry."

Rachel also walks through the reception and spots a note written in blood from the previous Witness (Zlatko Burić), reading "Your turn!" She grabs his keys, slips into his extra suit, and heads out of the cabin.
She then hops into a rusty pickup truck, with "Just Married" scrawled across the back and cans rattling behind the bumper. The Waterboys' "We Will Not Be Lovers" blasts on repeat as she tosses her wedding ring out the window and drives off grinning.
That smile, according to Boston, "is a mix of emotions." As she explained to Variety, "Cami played it so well. She’s emotional, exhausted from the week, and then there’s this small smile of, 'I got out. I made the right choice. Now I’m on to my next adventure.'"

Looking ahead to a possible second season, DiMarco told PEOPLE that Boston could take Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen in several directions. "It could be a time cut, it could be a direct pickup, it could be another story, some other curse or something," he said. "Who knows? It could be like American Horror Story, where it's the same cast playing different characters. It's up to her, really."
Morrone added, "I like to think that Nicky does try and look for Rachel." DiMarco agreed, noting, "Once he realizes that he wasn't hallucinating, maybe he tries to find her and just get some closure on what happened. I mean, he didn't die. He still believes that she's his soulmate. And she may realize that later too. Who knows?"
Boston has also teased some intriguing possibilities for the show's future, telling Deadline, "At one point I thought, what if it's Jude's wedding in however many years, and Rachel's still Rachel because she's immortal? Or Nicky's next wedding, which she has to come with witness."
Like DiMarco, Boston even floated the idea of turning Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen into an anthology series, with each season tackling a new fear. "I think there's a world where it's a totally different, very bad thing," she told ScreenRant. "I'd have to find another existential fear to explore."
Who's in the cast of Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen season 2?

If Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen comes back, the cast could go a few different ways. Morrone, DiMarco, and Fraser might return as Rachel, Nicky, and Jude, respectively, especially if Boston explores Nicky and Jude's future weddings.
But it's also possible the new season could feature a completely new cast with a brand-new nightmare. Or, like AHS, the same actors could pop up as entirely different characters in a fresh, twisted story.
